Medical Financial Assistance (MFA), located at San Joaquin General Hospital, offers health care coverage for services at San Joaquin County facilities for those who meet the eligibility requirements, which include being a legal resident of San Joaquin County, gross income of less than 300% of the Federal Poverty Level, and who do not have eligibility or access to other coverage such as Medi-Cal, private health Insurance, or Workers’ Compensation. This program fulfills the County Mandate under Welfare and Institutions Code 17000.

Childless adults, who are legal residents and who have incomes under 138% of the federal poverty level (FPL) can be enrolled into Expanded Medi-Cal with coverage beginning January 1, 2014. There is no asset test for this population.
